STONE SOUL FESTIVAL 30TH ANNIVERSARY
THEME: A COMMUNITY CELEBRATION
Stone Soul presents a tribute to Aretha Franklin and other great artist who have passed within the last 30-years.
Stone Soul, Inc. is proud to present it’s 30th Stone Soul Festival at Springfield Blunt Park. We will pay tribute to Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, James Brown, Gill Scott Herron, Luther Vandross, Etta James, Barry White, Lou Rawls, Charles Neville, Temptations, and Teddy Pendergrass; these are but a few artists who will be recognized by Stone Soul entertainers. We have been blessed with multiple talent. Each of the deceased entertainers will have some of their musical contributions displayed on stage. This is intended to be “A Royal Community Celebration” with special tribute to the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin. We must not forget the entertainers that filled our life with joy.
Burger King will be supporting our efforts to ensure each head, youth, and adult will have a crown to wear during the celebration.
Stone Soul has ordered T-shirts, which reflect the 30-year accomplishment.

Friday – 8/31 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Opening – Peter Brace Brigade
There will be ceremonial transfer of command during the opening of the festival, Commander Ronald Brace, Sr. who has been in charge since the inception 2007, will transfer his position to Ronald Brace, Jr. The Brace family has a written history, which covers their family from the day of captivity in West Africa.
There will be Kid’s Night hosted by Hampden County Sheriff Dept., Anthony Scibelli, Assistant Superintendent; Springfield Family Support Program – Cindy Stovall, Executive Director; and The Children Study Home – Leslie Fisher-Katz, Executive Director.

The staging for the Stone Soul Parade will start assembling at 9:00 a.m. – Rebecca M. Johnson School, 55 Catherine St., Springfield, MA; step off at 11:00 a.m. to Blunt Park.
There will be a free breakfast provided by Knights and Ladies of Saint Peter Clavier in honor of Ann Bailey- Leavenworth; co-hosted by Donna Jordan, Karon Tyler, Bill and Eleanor Barker.
This year’s tribute acknowledges Aretha Franklin for her recognition as queen of soul, a title she has held for decades. Springfield is privilege to present LaDawn Owens and her vocal reflection of Aretha Franklin. Many of the entertainers will present songs made famous by the artists who are no longer with us.
Richard Johnson and Mable Sharif will coordinate the health fair sponsored by Community Foundation, and Baystate Health, with over 50 medical and social service providers.
Presentation Award – Thomas Kegelman, Rep. Jose Tosado, Elder Zachary Reynolds, Adam Gomez, and Malo Brown will be receiving the Stone Soul Community Service Award, chaired by Danita Wilson and committee.

1:00 p.m. – The 30th Anniversary of the Stone Soul Picnic with a tribute to pit masters, Douglas Harris and Charlie Rawls; ribs, chicken, and the fixins will be served free of charge.
Once again Baystate Sportsmen Club will provide a fantastic, tasty fish fry hosted by Skip Miller.
2:00 p.m. – Gospel Program hosted by Evenus Thompson and Elder Will Naylor--Gospel from the soul.
Presentation Awards – The completion of the Community Service Awards will be presented.
